A Catholic Wedding at Courtyard Marriott in Queens, New York

Carmencita-Mia Taylor (33 and an attorney) and Neil Taylor (31 and works in quality control) married in a Catholic wedding in Queens, New York. The couple first met in 2005 in East Lansing, Michigan, when they were both out celebrating their birthdays. They hit if off on the dance floor and briefly dated, but soon went their separate ways and lost contact. Four years later, Neil contacted Mia on Facebook and the two frequently chatted for over a year before meeting up again in New York and attending Sunday mass together. Neil eventually surprised Mia with a proposal during an egg hunt on Easter Sunday. The couple had no hesitation in choosing Immaculate Conception Church in Jamaica, New York, the church Mia grew up in, as their ceremony venue. They incorporated Filipino traditions into the Catholic ceremony, which was followed by a reception at the Courtyard Marriott LaGuardia Airport, which was conveniently located near the church and had accommodations for out-of-town guests. Guests attended a cocktail hour at the hotel followed by a sit-down reception dinner of steak, chicken and fish. They also took photos in a photo booth, which were put in personalized frames and given out as wedding souvenirs. Mia says that she and Neil avoided a lot of wedding planning stress because they really knew what they wanted and didn’t take long to make decisions. “Have fun and try not to stress out,” she advises future couples. “Don't be afraid to ask for help or delegate.”
