A Chic, Classic Wedding at Union Horse Distilling Co. in Lenexa, Kansas
Dan Sullivan (29 and works in finance) and Michael Saal (36 and works in healthcare) met on Match.com. Mike proposed in Times Square in New York City at the same spot they told each other they loved each other for the first time three years before. For their wedding, the couple chose Dark Horse Distillery in Lenexa, Kansas, for its unusual, masculine feel and because it allowed them to have their ceremony and reception in the same place. “We went with classic styles, nothing too fussy, lots of mixtures of hard and soft,” Mike says. “Our personal style is very classic, put your feet up and relax, and we wanted the wedding to reflect that.” Using a simple, chic black-and-white color palette, they added green accents to complement their early summer wedding. They worked with Craig Sole Designs to create lush white floral arrangements of hydrangeas and calla lilies, each of their favorite flowers. Their signature cocktail was Grapes of Wrath, which was the drink they had on their first date, and served only farm-to-table food from Moxie Catering.
