A Chic Mountaintop Wedding at Malibu Rocky Oaks Estate and Vineyard in Malibu, California
For Kristin Polak (34 and a former set designer) and Jonathon Treadon (32 and a director of analytics and pricing services), a one-of-a-kind wedding that perfectly captured their personalities and relationship was non-negotiable. Enlisting the help of Kristin Alexander of Esoteric Events, the couple pulled off a sophisticated, romantic affair with a hint of rustic chic flair. “We wanted to keep everything simple, but sophisticated and really showcase our incredible location and the love we share for each other,” says Kristin. “I wanted our wedding to feel romantic, but edgy; authentic, but creative and, above all else, personalized and true to us.”
With a stunning venue like Malibu Rocky Oaks Estate and Vineyard, choosing the decor was simple. Boasting 360 degree views of the Santa Monica Mountains, the site’s helipad, where the ceremony took place, required little in the way of decoration. With the breathtaking natural scenery as their backdrop, Kristin and Jonathan exchanged vows in a light-hearted, yet profound ceremony. “We decided to forgo bridesmaids and groomsmen, as we really wanted to keep the focus on just the two of us and the commitment we were making together,” says Kristin.
The end of the ceremony marked the beginning of a night of al fresco dining and fun-filled celebrations. The newlyweds and their guests wound their way back up to the Malibu Rocky Oaks Estate, where they enjoyed cocktails on the stone patio and a sit-down dinner. The farm style tables dotted with cascading arrangements of rich burgundy, white and pink florals looked out onto the valley and mountains below, while crystal chandeliers twinkled in the sunlight overhead. “Guests’ mouths dropped while the sun set over the mountains and our caterer, Urban Palate, won over everyone that night,” says Kristin. A tip for the taking from Kristin and Johnathon: “Our advice for future couples is just to stay true to yourselves as much as possible and remember what your wedding is really about!”
