A Chic, Romantic Wedding at the Saphire Estate in Sharon, Massachusetts

Diseanna Brown (29 and a private nanny) and Luke Joseph’s (29 and a dental hygienist) wedding was a romantic, modern affair with a soft, classic color

Diseanna Brown (29 and a private nanny) and Luke Joseph’s (29 and a dental hygienist) wedding was a romantic, modern affair with a soft, classic color palette of ivory, blush and metallic hues. The couple gathered their friends and families at the Saphire Estate in Sharon, Mass., a charming manor house with acres of beautifully manicured grounds, lakeshore views and an intimate garden. The day started with a garden ceremony, where Diseanna and Luke exchanged heartfelt vows they’d written themselves under a fabric-draped gazebo with crystal chandeliers, gilded lanterns and lush arrangements of ivory hydrangeas. A reception followed in the manor house, which the couple and Shane Hassey of Reserve Modern Event Rental transformed into a chic, romantic scene with mirror-topped tables, dramatic crystal candelabras, mercury glass accents and sophisticated, modern vignettes. “Lighting was key in the reception since we were going for a romantic candlelit look,” says Diseanna. “The tablescapes and place settings were kept to ivory linens with classic glass stemware so as not to take away from the dramatic centerpieces throughout the room.” Guests danced the night away to the sounds of DJ Paul Francious, stopping only to strike a pose at Diseanna and Luke’s stocked photo booth. A tip for the taking from Diseanna: “Take in every moment, the day flies by. Planning may get a little crazy at time, but remember the bigger picture — it’s all about the love you have for each other.”

Diseanna struck the perfect balance of glamour and elegance with her bridal look. She donned a show-stopping fit-and-flare gown by Casablanca Bridal with a sweetheart neckline, Swarovski crystal embellishments, delicate lace and a champagne underlay. To complete her wedding day ensemble, she added a three-tier, elbow-length veil for the ceremony and a rhinestone-studded, floral hair comb, which added a hint of glitz to her romantic curls.
Luke donned a striking navy Noose and Monkey suit for the wedding. He opted for a modern shawl collar style and added a waistcoat for a little extra polish. Instead of the traditional tie and boutonniere, he wore a floral bow tie and a pearl and rhinestone brooch, which complemented those in Diseanna’s bouquet. And for a chic finish, Luke added a green pocket square.

To make the ceremony feel more personalized, Diseanna and Luke incorporated a number of sentimental and unexpected elements. The pair exchanged heartfelt vows they’d written themselves and Luke’s brother officiated the ceremony. Instead of a traditional recessional, the couple, their wedding party and parents danced their way back up the aisle to Earth, Wind and Fire’s “September.”
The ceremony took place in the Saphire Estate’s intimate garden, where Diseanna and Luke exchanged vows under an opulently decorate gazebo, complete with air white fabric, bunches of lush hydrangeas and elegant crystal chandeliers. Gilded lanterns with ivory pillar candles framed the gazebo, adding an extra touch of romantic flair.
Chic, modern vignettes created distinct spaces throughout the reception space. During cocktail hour, guests could kick back in the elegant lounge area, a set up of tufted white couches, oversized armchair and regal, French-inspired dining chairs. Crystal candelabras and silver side tables were scattered throughout adding to the sophisticated, contemporary feel.rn
Diseanna and Luke opted for a sweetheart table for the reception, affording them a few intimate moments together during the reception. The mirror-topped table was decorated with dramatic crystal candelabras and clusters of mercury glass votive candleholders, the light from which cast a warm, romantic glow over the table.
The couple and their guests moved inside for the reception, enjoying a night of dinner and dancing in the Saphire Estate’s elegant ballroom. With the help of Shane Hassey of Reserve Modern Event Rental, Diseanna and Luke transformed the venue into a modern, romantic scene. Tables were topped with dramatic crystal candelabra centerpieces, silvery mercury glass candleholders and crisp, ivory linens. “Lighting was key in the reception since we were going for a romantic candlelit look,” says Diseanna. “The tablescapes and place settings were kept to ivory linens with classic glass stemware so as not to take away from the dramatic centerpieces throughout the room.”

After dinner, Diseanna and Luke hit the dance floor, where they kicked off the evening’s festivities with their first dance to “You and I” by Avant. “We then transitioned to Michael Jackson’s ‘The Way You Make Me Feel,’ which a complete surprise to everyone,” says Diseanna. In addition to dancing, guests could strike a pose at the couple’s photo booth and later in the evening Diseanna and Luke treated everyone to a late night snack with an authentic sausage cart.
Inspired by the Saphire Estate’s beautifully manicured gardens and natural scenery, Diseanna and Luke chose a romantic secret garden theme for the day. “Luke and I wanted our wedding to have a romantic, dreamy feel without being too over the top,” says Diseanna. The pair chose a color palette of ivory, blush, gold and silver and filled the estate’s elegant ballroom with crystal candelabra’s and mercury glass accents.
