A Chic, Medieval Feast Wedding at Uppercut Gym in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Rebecca Windhorst (30 and a manager of business improvement) was playing front yard football with her sorority sisters when Bert Parker (27 and the owner of BEAST gym Minneapolis) walked by wearing a t-shirt, which read ‘Will Party For Food.’ Rebecca recalls the event: “I walked up to him and said, ‘If that t-shirt is true, that’s too bad, because I don’t cook!’” Eight years later, Bert proposed with a yellow gold and morganite ring. Their wedding ceremony took place at Pax Christi Catholic Community in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. “We put our guests in a church that had all the seating together so our guests can be brought together,” says Rebecca. For their reception, the couple transformed the Uppercut Gym in Minneapolis for their reception into what they call a “medieval chic feast” with a color palette of gold, navy, emerald and wood hues. To create a hearty, slightly industrial natural atmosphere in the boxing gym, “we went with more greenery, ferns and magnolia leaf—as many natural elements as possible,” says Rebecca. The couple seated their guests at feast-style tables to bring everybody together and provided a full feast that included fresh, wood-fired artisan pizzas. For the main set, an eight-piece band played classic to modern tunes and brought the house down with a rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen.
