A Chic, Themed Wedding at L'Auberge Del Mar in Del Mar, California

rn Carlie Burt (31 and a real estate marketer) and Nathan Diviney (34 and a software company consultant) often hear from friends that they're "cut from the same cloth." When their design team caught wind of this, they transformed the simple phrase into a distinctive theme with quilts, scissors and fabric motifs. The day's colors came together by more than just chance. "Big Sur was where we fell in love, so we wanted to re-create that scene for our special day," Carlie says of the road trip that changed their lives early on in their relationship. A palette of blush, nude, cream, burgundy, teal and peach and accents of coral and acid green were pulled from that environment. "We worked closely with Oak and the Owl to create and transform L'Auberge Del Mar's concrete terrace into something with more of a central coast feel," says their planner, Heather Balliet of Amorology Weddings. This involved hauling trees up three flights of stairs to create a faux forest overlooking the ocean at L'Auberge Del Mar in Del Mar, California. "This wedding is a great example of how, with the right vision and team to execute it, you can transform any space into something that gives you goosebumps," Balliet says. The couple added personal details, like a Big Sur Shrub cocktail and a California Love cake station. "Personal touches help you remember your own unique and special love," Carlie says.
