A Christmas-Themed Wedding at Aldie Mansion in Doylestown, Pennsylvania
Tierney Houck (27 and a social worker) and Brandon Smith's (34 and a naval helicopter pilot) wedding perfectly captured the holiday spirit. "We wanted to embrace the fact that we were getting married so close to Christmas and keep things simple and festive, Tierney says. Their venue, Aldie Mansion in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, was already decked out for the holidays, so it wasn't hard for Tierney and Brandon to add their own personal touch. Outside of the mansion, they placed luminaria on the path to the door to guide their guests to the celebration. Their ceremony took place by three large windows that were decorated with Christmas wreathes, and garlands were strung from the ceiling above. Tierney and Brandon lined the ceremony aisle with white poinsettias, and at cocktail hour they served a signature drink called "poinsettia" as a nod to the seasonal flower in addition to hot apple cider. Centerpieces at the reception were made up of candles in black lanterns wreathed by garlands and Christmas ornaments. Each place setting had a candy cane with fir needles as a wintry touch. After dinner and dancing, Tierney and Brandon ended the night with a white wedding cake that was decorated with a big green bow so that it resembled a Christmas present, and they gave their guests goodie bags with warm cookies and milk as parting wedding favors.
