Jennifer (33 and a yoga instructor and business owner) and John’s (31 and an architect) wedding venue, the Cairnwood Estate, perfectly blended their varying tastes.  Its classic yet ornate aesthetic, with a grand staircase and mantles, was perfect for Jennifer, who wanted a more whimsical and intimate day, and John, who fancies architecture and history. “John is an architect and we both were attracted to places with historic architectural significance,” Jennifer says. “We also wanted a place intimate enough that we felt like we were having a fancy dinner party. Cairnwood was the perfect fit.”

After the ceremony, guests explored the mansion, which was outfitted in vintage books and arrangements of red, ivory and lavender roses, hydrangeas and candles on the mantles and tables. Despite the day’s rain, inside the ornate estate, guests were treated to views of the grounds from the Great Hall, which housed the ceremony. —Allie Volpe

Jennifer wore a Casablanca Bridal tulle ball gown with an embellished sweetheart bust. "I figured when else in life do you get to wear a ball gown?" Jennifer says. "And I really felt like a bride in it."
The couple aimed to add as many personal details to their wedding as possible. Jennifer gifted each of her flower girls with an embroidered handkerchief for them to use in their own future weddings.
The library of the Cairnwood Estate was adorned with framed pictures of Jennifer and John's ancestors on their wedding days, a thoughtful nod to their families.
The ceremony took place in the Great Hall of the Cairnwood Estate. Despite being in a grand mansion, Jennifer wanted there to be an air of intimacy. To add a bit of customization, Jennifer wrote the ceremony herself.
Jennifer's engagement ring features a round stone in a square setting on a platinum band with one round side stone. "John knows that I like things a little asymmetric," Jennifer says.
The couple's first dance song was Elvis's "I Can't Help Falling in Love," and both Jennifer and John chose to engrave the lyrics on their wedding rings. On the inside of John's reads "Can't help falling..." and Jennifer's continue "in love with you."
John's best man designed the wedding favors: martini shakers with anchor olive picks featuring Jennifer and John's names and the wedding date.
In addition to the many hands-on touches to the ceremony and reception, John designed the menu cards, programs, place cards and table numbers.
A self-proclaimed "control freak couple," Jennifer and John performed a choreographed dance to Elvis's "I Can't Help Falling in Love" for their first dance.
John, an architect, was drawn to venues with historic architectural significance. The Carinwood Estate, built in the late 1800s, fulfilled such criteria.
