This couple added a sweet art-deco twist to their classic wedding. Michelle Martin (29 and a scientist) and Tyler Raugh (28 and a student) tied the knot at the Memorial Chapel at Rice University in Houston, Texas. “Because Tyler and I met at Rice, this was a perfect, meaningful location for us,” Michelle says. The reception followed at Hotel ZaZa, a modern and swanky atmosphere full of classic and eclectic flair that suited the couple’s style. Their hexagonal wedding cake stood out as the focal point of the reception, with its detailed art-deco-inspired pattern. The couple also passed out alfajores, or small Argentine sandwich cookies, as wedding favors, to give their guests a taste of the bride’s culture. “My parents and I are Argentine, and we love these cookies,” Michelle says. She and Tyler love electronic music, so they were sure to incorporate that into their celebration. “People were on the dance floor all night,” Michelle says. “We even had some guests do a few rap solos.” The bride offers some tips for future couples: “Planning a wedding is a lot more work than you would expect. Just remember to focus on the love you have for each other—that’s what it’s all about.” See the elegant details captured by Jessica Pledger Photography, below.

Michelle wore the Esther wedding dress by Vera Wang. The A-line dress with a fitted bodice and sweetheart neckline perfectly suited the formal occasion. Her chapel veil finished off her polished look.
The groom wore a classic black tuxedo with a simple white ranunculus boutonniere.
The bridesmaid dresses wore blush; their dresses were the only pops of color throughout the wedding's classic black and white palette.
