A Classic Black-and-White Wedding at The Shambles at Headhouse Square in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Sydney Pauline & Michael Pivovarnick wanted their wedding to be “classic with a black-and-white color palette, but with a modern, elegant approach.” The ceremony took place at The Shambles at Headhouse Square in Philadelphia—and they transformed the brick-clad marketplace with romantic string lights and white flower arrangements of peonies and orchids. “We played around with the contrast of the darker spaces with décor and florals that would pop, almost giving a three-dimensional feel,” Sydney says. After the ceremony, guests headed to La Peg Brasserie for the cocktail hour and reception. “La Peg has the most stunning vaulted ceilings, and it’s filled with vintage mirror walls and raw, industrial elements,” Sydney says. “Flowers abundantly adorned every design element in our reception space, including our eight-foot seating chart, a floor length ‘selfie mirror’ that greeted guests as they walked in, our champagne tower wall and our photo booth wall. But the most memorable floral pieces were the cloud-like installations that were suspended in the dining area.” Guests sipped prosecco and beer on tap, and they admired the couple’s prominent monogram. Sydney wore a sleek crepe high-neck gown and changed into a satin dress with a plunging neckline for dancing the night away. Michael wore a custom-tailored tuxedo with their wedding date embroidered under the collar.
