A Classic Black Tie Wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts
Rachel Medow (29 and a nanny) and Justin Gilson’s (31 and a tax manager) fall fete was the epitome of classic elegance, thanks to towering, orchid-filled arrangements and a monochromatic palette of black and cream.
Upon arriving at the ceremony, guests were greeted with glasses of champagne and a signature whiskey smash cocktail. As a nod to their Jewish roots, the couple honored the tradition of signing a preceremony ketubah before exchanging vows under a chuppah draped in gauzy white fabric.
Rachel carried a textured bouquet of white japhet orchids and blush sweet peas.
The sleek, minimalist design of the couple’s ketubah mirrored their wedding’s contemporary yet classic theme.
A duo of violinists set a lively tone for cocktail hour by performing upbeat renditions of popular hit songs. While the décor boasted a decidedly traditional aesthetic, the couple took a bolder design approach to their jaw-dropping cake. The five-tier, confetti-flavored confection featured marble fondant adorned with fresh flower petals for a look that was almost too good to eat.
Jacquard linens gave way to towering centerpieces of ivory roses, orchids and hydrangeas. After a dinner of filet mignon and truffle mashed potatoes, an eight-piece band rocked the reception late into the evening. “Our only requirement was that everyone be on the dance floor all night,” Rachel says.
The newlyweds shared a first dance to Ben E. King’s “Stand by Me.”
