A Classic Cliffside Wedding at Point 16 in Big Sur, California

When Laurie Berger and Charlie Rogerson first visited Point 16, they immediately knew it was their venue. "Point 16's rugged natural beauty combined with Big Sur’s bohemian history really resonated with us," the couple says.  As a former senior designer at Pinterest who now owns a design studio, Laurie designed and illustrated various elements like the letterpress invitation suite, groom’s tie, cocktail signs and place cards. "Everything depicted golden-yellow California poppies and daisies in artistic styles ranging from formal to psychedelic," she says. Yellow also showed up on the bridesmaid dresses, wedding cake decorations and flowers, which were grown on Big Sur. "We knew that flowers would be an important element of the wedding décor and wanted them to feel native to Big Sur, much like the wildflowers and poppies Laurie had illustrated," the couple says. A yellow DIY seating chart showed everyone to their table, while blankets that doubled as wedding favors fought off the evening chill.
Our favorite #MakeTradition moment: "We used flowers and petals for the ceremony aisle, and guests threw more of the same petals in the air as confetti during our recessional," the couple says. "After the wedding, Laurie left a bouquet at the site where she and her brothers had scattered her father’s ashes years earlier in Big Sur."
