A Personalized Mansion Wedding at Pine Knob Mansion in Clarkston, Michigan
Jennifer Cantú (27 and a kindergarten teacher) and Jarrett Smith (30 and a director of mortgage banking) used a vibrant blue and orange color palette and nods to Jarrett’s hometown of Philadelphia to pull off an ultra-personal affair. “We stopped looking for items to fit a particular style and instead just picked details we love,” Jennifer says. For the ceremony, the couple kept the décor to a minimum, allowing Michigan’s autumn colors to be the focal point. Jennifer and Jarrett also incorporated the Mexican lazo custom and the African tradition of jumping the broom into their ceremony. A Motown-heavy playlist was essential to kickstart the party, as was a memorable reception entrance to “Motownphilly” by Boyz II Men. One of Jennifer’s favorite details was the bright blue floral print that put a unique twist on her elegant A-line gown. “It had pockets!” she says.
