A Classic-Meets-Contemporary Wedding at Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa

rn Hannah Schneider (28 and a brand marketer) and Jordan Cealy (28 and a corporate strategist) attended Augustana College in Iowa, together for three years before crossing paths during a study-abroad program in Asia. “We started dating in Tokyo and spent the first few months of our relationship traveling Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China,” Hannah says. “When we got engaged, we knew right away that we would have an Augie wedding.” After a Catholic ceremony at the campus’s Ascension Chapel, the couple and their 140 guests crossed the Mississippi River, to the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa, for a contemporary-meets-classic reception. “We chose the Figge Art Museum because of its beautiful view of the Mississippi and the contemporary feel of the space,” Hannah says. “Our guests, who mostly came from Chicago, remarked that they couldn't believe they were in Iowa.” The palette for the day was a subtle combo of warm golds and neutrals, romantic candlelight and plenty of white blooms. “I have always been drawn to white florals because they look so soft and timeless,” Hannah says. “We worked with our florist to choose florals that had a romantic look and would hold up well in the summer heat: Italian ruscus, blizzard roses and white lisianthus.” Says Hannah: “Don't be afraid to break tradition or do something a bit differently. We didn't follow traditions that weren't meaningful to us. We kept the focus on creating a really fun celebration.” —Carolyn Meers
