rn Megan Koonts (27 and a physician assistant) and Wes Payne (27 and an accountant) perfectly combined classic and rustic for their October nuptials in Asheville, North Carolina. Megan and Wes were raised and educated in North Carolina and still live in the state. Saying they are proud of their home would be and understatement, and they wanted their guests to experience the state the couple love so much. “The Inn on Biltmore Estate was everything we hoped for and more in a wedding venue,” Megan says. “No other site in Asheville offered such personalized attention, first class catering and those beautiful mountain views.” The mountainous terrain inspired the earth-toned palette, including shades of navy, gray, green and ivory. Megan and Wes worked with Jocelyn Huntley from Firefly Event Company to bring all the details to life. “Event coordinators are there to make sure everything goes smoothly and that you are able to enjoy your day,” Megan says. “I don't know what we would have done without Jocelyn.” Kimberly Hyder from Two Buds and a Blossom added stunning floral arrangements that really embodied the shabby-chic theme. One of our favorite parts was Megan and Wes’s romantic first dance to “In My Life” by the Beatles. “Wes and I grew up listening to the Beatles and this song has always held a special place in our hearts, plus it was short and sweet.” Megan says. There are so many details we love—see them all, beautifully captured by Melissa Linney from Melissa Maureen Photography, below.

Megan and Wes set the tone for their classic soiree early with a classic navy and ivory invitation suite from Paper Source. The couple closed each envelope with a gold wax seal for a little glamorous flair.
Wes and the groomsmen wore succulents, seeded eucalyptus, dusty miller and wildflowers for their boutonnieres. The stems were tied with navy ribbon to bring in the color palette.
Megan carried succulents, roses, hypericum berries, astilbes, ranunculus, seeded eucalyptus, dahlias and wildflowers in her bouquet. The stems were wrapped in navy ribbon and lace from her mother’s wedding dress.
The bridesmaids wore navy lace dresses with sleeves from David’s Bridal. Megan and Wes loved the wedding party's elegant, formal look. The groomsmen wore three-piece gray Black by Vera Wang suits from Men’s Wearhouse with navy ties.
“My father constructed the arbor from trees in the woods near my parents' house,” Megan says. “The arbor was decorated with greenery and made the perfect backdrop for our vows."
“The ceremony was held on the back lawn of the inn, overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains," Megan says. "There was an 80 percent chance of rain on our wedding day, so a tent was raised for our wedding guests just in case.”
The reception tables were topped with wooden log vases filled with moss, pine and white carnations.

Megan and Wes enjoyed a three-tier white buttercream cake for dessert. The top and bottom layers were hazelnut cake with cream filling and the middle later was carrot cake. The cake was topped with white lisianthus and green carnations.
