A Classic Outdoor Wedding at a Private Residence in Delevan, Wisconsin
This DIY outdoor wedding was all about tradition. Anna Gaspar (21 and a nurse) wore her grandmother's 63-year-old wedding gown when she walked down the aisle of her childhood church. Anna and Ben Samuelson (21 and an aircraft mechanic), who met freshman year of high school, went for a classic wedding, with the ceremony at a traditional church. After the ceremony, guests headed to a laid-back reception on a friend's property in Delevan, Wisconsin. Pops of plum with gold accents shone through in DIY elements like handmade peony and wildflower bouquets and delicate star-shape string lights, adding a playful touch to the day. Our favorite detail? Anna's gown. Its long, lace sleeves, intricate beading and layered tulle paired with a floor-length veil were the perfect touch for a traditional wedding ceremony. "Long before we were engaged, I knew what dress I wanted to wear," Anna says. "Sixty-three years earlier, my grandmother had gotten married in a gorgeous dress, which my mother wore 30 years later. I was determined to wear that same dress." Amazing Alterations helped Anna alter the heirloom dress. All of Anna and Ben's beautiful moments were captured by Caynay Photo and can be seen below. A couple of tips from Anna: "It's unlikely that so many of your friends and family will all be in the same place at the same time, so take the time to enjoy that. Also, get a trusted (and organized friend) to be a personal attendant. Let her take your cellphone, deal with all the questions and keep everyone on schedule. I had three incredible friends for that, and I didn't stress at all that day because I knew somebody else was going to take care of anything that came up."
