A Classic Ranch Wedding at a Private Residence in Cleburne, Texas
Katie Herring (31 and a language therapist) was visiting a friend in Houston, Texas, who, after much debate, convinced her to join her for a crossfit class. Phuc Dang (32 and an insurance agent) was running the show and giving workout instructions that Katie refused to follow. (She thought he was quite bossy!) Eventually, Phuc surrendered to her and the night ended with the two eating pizza and slow dancing to country music. Phuc proposed at his brother’s ranch surrounded by flowers, candles, music and the bride’s favorite food—enchiladas. Their wedding style was simple and sophisticated, channeling the elegance of the 1920s through crystal, lace and red roses with country accents. The ceremony took place under an arch by a pool, followed by a reception with a country band playing songs as the sun set. Dinner included a blend of Texas and Vietnamese foods followed by dancing and laughter. On Katie and Phuc’s wedding invitations, they requested their guests to include their wedding song or a love song that had special meaning to them and played these songs throughout their reception. “A huge emphasis for us was re-creating a spark for those already in love or married. We wanted this to be a night for them under the stars, stress-free and surrounded by love,” says Katie.
