Melissa Gonzales (26 and a staff accountant) and Matt Garvey (30 and a senior accountant) met the old-fashioned way—through common friends—in Dallas, Texas, and they wanted their classic wedding to follow suit. White Rock Lake is close to Melissa’s heart, so a wedding nearby with lots of flowers was a must—emphasis on plenty of peonies. Whitney Bailey with Chic Fleur Weddings and Events brought their wedding vision to life, with a timeless, romantic vibe throughout the day. Their ceremony unfolded at Perkins Chapel on the campus of Southern Methodist University, while classic songs by Beethoven, Bach, Pachelbel’s timeless “Canon in D” performed by an organist echoed throughout the room. Choosing Rosine Hall at the Dallas Arboretum for their reception was a no-brainer: The Arboretum was already surrounded by flowers and lush greenery, but when the Southern Table filled the space with soft, pink peonies and a stunning hanging wreath of roses, hydrangeas and peonies above the dance floor, the space was nothing short of breathtaking. One of the best parts (aside from the dance party led by DJ Jake), provided by Birds of a Feather Events, was a photo booth where guests could snap memories and take them home. See the prettiness, captured by Anna Smith Photography, below.

Melissa and Matt got married at Perkins Chapel on Southern Methodist University's campus in Dallas, Texas, since it's close to their families. Many of Melissa’s relatives are proud alumni, making it an ideal spot for their union.
Melissa’s bouquet of fresh, fluffy peonies in soft pink and white was undeniably romantic. Pops of leafy greens added definition to the textured arrangement.
Melissa and her bridesmaids wore their hair in classically romantic twisted updo hairstyles. Melissa stood out with lots of intricate curls that were topped with an embellished accessory; for her ceremony she wore a cathedral-length veil.

Matt and his groomsmen went cool and classic in black-and-white tuxes, complete with black bow ties and cummerbunds.

The bridesmaids wore classic, strapless floor-length dresses by Watters in Ice Pink, and Melissa’s maid of honor’s dress had an illusion halter neckline. All the bridesmaids carried textured bouquets of white and blush peonies that mirrored Melissa’s bouquet.

A sparkly blush tablecloth covered the head table. Lush peonies lining the center of the table matched the pink rosettes on the backs of the gold chiavari chairs.
A giant floral wreath suspended above the dance floor was the focal point of the reception at Rosine Hall at the Dallas Arboretum in Dallas, Texas. It had a mix of white hydrangeas with fluffy, textured peonies and pink spray roses.

Swiss dots on this white buttercream cake felt timeless, just like Melissa and Matt’s wedding. A pair of blush peonies and an elegant silver cake stand dressed up the style.
Melissa and Matt shared an intimate and emotional first dance to “Everything I Do (I Do It For You)” by Bryan Adams. Their song selection was a sentimental one: “I feel like it imitates how we truly feel about each other, and it’s a classic,” Melissa says.
