A Classic Spring Wedding at Earhart Manor at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Michigan
Jeremy (27 and a sales manager) was the new kid in seventh grade when he moved from New Jersey to Michigan, where he met Laura (27 and a mental health counselor). Even though they had known each other all through middle and high school, they did not start dating until their junior year of college. They moved to Chicago together and, several years later, Jeremy proposed at Laura's favorite spot in the city--a park bench on a pond overlooking the skyline. The couple then celebrated with a romantic night downtown at the Drake Hotel. Jeremy and Laura took a year and a half to get married, all the while Laura kept a daily journal of all the reasons she loved and wanted to marry Jeremy, later giving this journal to him as a wedding present. The wedding was held outside Earhart Manor at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Michigan with an outdoor ceremony officiated by Laura's brother and a tented reception. The couple had a color palette of grey, white, and yellow, which they incorporated through flower arrangements of white roses, hydrangeas, calla lilies, and gerbera daisies, to keep the theme timeless and traditional. The most entertaining part of the night was a "cake in the face" challenge, where guests could place tokens in a jar for either the bride or the groom, and the one with the most tokens would get wedding cake smashed in their face during the cake cutting. Jeremy and Laura also encouraged guests to be social, placing two empty chairs opposite theirs at the reception so that guests could stop and chat with the happy couple at any point during the reception. Small details like these helped to personalize Jeremy and Laura's elegantly simple wedding.
