A Classic Spring Wedding at Stock’s Manor in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

After almost two years of planning on Pinterest, Kelly McGranaghan (29 and a product manager) and Ian Hooker (32 and a systems analyst) had a wedding filled with all their favorite things. “I love the springtime and really wanted everything to be flowing and appear effortless,” Kelly says. After a sweet ceremony at the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, their hometown, everyone went to Stock’s Manor in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, for a mint, gold, pink and white reception that felt like spring. Some of their 134 guests even found their DIY escort cards hanging above a patch of real grass. But that was far from all! Thinking of the space as a blank canvas, Kelly and Ian picked out decorations with bright colors. Peony and rose-filled centerpieces from Petals With Style decorated the tables, while a DIY pink rosette linen from her mother accented the wedding cake. Another thing we really loved were the wedding favors. Kelly and Ian turned to their favorite coffee shops, including Little Amps Coffee Roasters in Harrisburg, and gave each friend and family member a canvas bag filled with coffee or tea. See these and all our favorite details below, as they were captured by Lauren Fair Photography.

When Kelly didn’t like the invitation options she saw online, she decided to make the entire stationery suite herself. Prepped with inspiration from Pinterest, she designed each piece with a mint accent, funky mixed black fonts and a chic pink rose detail. Taking things to another level, she even made sure that their invitation suite perfectly matched the escort cards, programs, table numbers and more.
Every part of their wedding rings was unique! Kelly’s engagement ring held Ian’s great-grandmother’s round diamond in a classic diamond halo. “I love the idea of combining vintage pieces with a newer shape,” Kelly says. As for the wedding rings, she wanted something dainty and understated, while Ian wanted a classic ring. They went to Catbird in New York, New York, and found both pieces. Ian went with a gold ring and Kelly chose a set of two thin gold rings with diamonds.
“It's no secret that I love all greens," Kelly says. "I fell in love with the dusty shale color from J.Crew. It had a minty gray-green feel that wasn’t in-your-face green and complemented my champagne gown perfectly.” Each woman picked out her chiffon dress style with either a one-shoulder strap or a strapless cut. Chandelier earrings from Bauble Bar and peony bouquets tied the looks together with the rest of their palette.
Elegant Gold and Silver Chiavari Ceremony Chairs
The Pennsylvania State Capitol Building in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was a gorgeous building and had personal meaning for their ceremony. “We live in Harrisburg. We walk all over Harrisburg. And the Rotunda is absolutely beautiful,” Kelly says. “I knew the pictures were going to be breathtaking.” With this in mind, they let the historic site, hanging American flags and gilded accents speak for themselves. Only gold chiavari chairs were added as decor.
Looking for something more ethereal with a vintage style, Kelly went to BHLDN in New York, New York, and picked out a chic ivory and champagne wedding dress. The illusion V-neck was detailed with lace while the skirt had a tulle overlay that gave it a flowing feel. She also added a few personal details. “I love a little sparkle, so the headpiece and ivory shoes added that flair that I was looking for,” Kelly says.
When it came to the flowers, Kelly wanted one thing: peonies. Focused on these flowers with light hues and tons of texture, she worked with the team at Petals With Style to create this spring bouquet. Bold pink and fuchsia peonies were paired with white peonies, white ranunculus and peach delphiniums. Then every stem was gathered in a matching pink satin ribbon.

When it came time to pick their reception site, Kelly and Ian knew that Stock’s Manor in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, was it. “ I grew up in this area and it just felt like home,” Kelly says. Their 134 guests sat on the porch and took in the scene as the happy newlyweds sneaked away for a few pictures with their wedding party.

Even though they chose a classic design, Kelly and Ian wanted their cake to stand out with some personal flair. After House of Clarendon brought in their three-tier ivory confection with that striped design, the pros at Petals With Style added a lush arrangement to the front. Blush and white peonies, seeded eucalyptus and silver brunia brought out Kelly’s favorite season, while the gold “just married” topper gave it that extra sparkle.

Their shared love of coffee definitely came out in the wedding favors. Each canvas bag read “Let Love Brew,” and was filled with beans from their favorite coffee shops: Starbucks and Little Amps Coffee Roasters in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. For guests who wanted an alternative, some bags also had tea. They mixed things up with Scottish breakfast tea, to match their heritages, and mint green tea to go with their palette. Every favor had a personal twist.
