A Vintage-Inspired Wedding at Ray's Boathouse in Seattle

Ashley Larson (30 and a teacher) and Charles Kuhlmann (30 and a writer) first bonded over science fiction when they met at a mutual friend’s birthday party. They had their first date on New Year’s Eve and instantly knew there was something special between them. Eight months later, Charles brought Ashley back to where they had their first date at Gas Works Park in Seattle, and proposed to her under the stars. The wedding ceremony took place at Bethany Community Church in Seattle, Washington, where the couple attended service, decorated with a vaulted ceiling, an ornate cross and stained-glass windows. Even before Charles proposed, Ashley purchased her strapless ivory wedding dress with a layered skirt at a consignment shop. The reception was held at Ray’s Boathouse in Seattle, with a patio overlooking the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains in the distance. The inspiration behind the light blue and dark purple color palette was from a photo Ashley found of a table setting that she fell in love with. Vintage details and accents were present throughout the wedding, from the old-fashioned airmail postcard save-the-dates to the antique suitcase that served as a cardholder and birdcages that decorated the venue.
