A Classic, Waterfront Elopement at a Private Residence in Belfair, Washington

A waterfront backyard in Belfair, Washington, served as the perfect romantic backdrop for this classic elopement, creating a serene environment for such an intimate occasion. "We kept the decor very simple and opted to let the natural surroundings serve as our decorations," Lindsey Miltner (31 and in banking and finance) says of her marriage to Matt Miltner (34 and an architect). "High tide was occurring at the time we were exchanging vows, so hearing the waves gently crash during the ceremony was a nice, unexpected touch." Lindsey and Matt wore the white and blue palette on their sleeves—Lindsey picked the first dress she tried on, which ended up being a white wedding dress with sleeves and the back entirely accented in illusion lace. Matt sported a navy blue linen J.Crew suit with a striped beige and blue tie, which had a single pink rose and ivory hydrangea boutonniere pinned to the lapel. One of our favorite details? The two-tier ivory wedding cake with ivory hydrangeas draped down the side, topped with two bird figurines—perfect for the lovebirds. "Matt and I are pretty shy, so the thought of standing in front of 100 people exchanging private and personal vows was not right for us," Lindsey says. "We were able to do exactly what we wanted in a comfortable and beautiful setting."
