A Classic Waterfront Wedding on Lake Minnetonka in Minneapolis, Minnesota
What happens when a classic lake locale is met with simple southern details? A green and white floral-infused outdoor wedding that newlyweds Mary Beth Weissmueller (28 and a client relationship manager) and Fred Steiner (28 and in investor relations) are proud to call their own. "We had our tented reception on Lake Minnetonka because it was beautiful and combined our love of the outdoors with our desire to be by the water," the bride explains. "And since we both love Charleston, it gave us the feeling of being in the south thanks to the water and willow trees." The couple's planner, Sarah Trotter from Lasting Impressions, created a relaxed, southern-charmed space complete with sweet, classic details – from lush green and white hydrangea centerpieces (courtesy of Sadie's Couture Floral) to a moss-covered escort card table. Gold chiavari chairs and matching chargers added just the right amount of gild while white swiss dot linens lent a little bit of texture. "I've always been a southern girl at heart and wanted my wedding to be simple, classic and elegant," Mary Beth explains. "We ended up using a lot of fresh green and white hues along with gold to give the day a natural, but rich, feel." Once Mary Beth and Fred's 200 guests settled into they tented outdoor reception, they enjoyed a night full of photo booth antics and dancing along with plenty of custom snacks – including a late-night donut bar and four-tier cake complete with two very different flavors. "We both loved the Bailey's chocolate and lemon strawberry split flavors at the tasting, so we figured why not serve both?" the bride recalls. As for wedding day advice for future brides? "At some point during your reception, take a step back and get a good look at all of your guests," Mary Beth says. "All of your family and friends are there to celebrate you. Capture an image in your head to remember that you might not get otherwise."
