A Classic Winter Wedding at Hotel Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica, California

For their late-winter wedding in Santa Monica, California, Jennifer Phillips (26 and a neonatal ICU registered nurse) and Daniel Palmieri (27 and works in real estate private equity investments) planned an elegant, classic affair with a palette of ivory, champagne and white with pops of vibrant USC Trojans red. “Dan and I met at USC and wanted a subtle way to incorporate the school colors, which also ended up being perfect for a February wedding,” Jennifer says. “The elegance was carried throughout the wedding by our flowers, the delicate beaded lace details of my gown, and our wedding cake, complete with lace and vintage brooch detailing.”

The day started with a traditional Catholic ceremony at the Good Shepard Catholic Church in Beverly Hills, California, and was followed by a fun-filled evening of dinner and dancing at the Hotel Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica. Floor-to-ceiling windows that offered the newlyweds and their guests beautiful beach views was a key selling point for the pair, while classic chandeliers and ornate architectural details provided the elements of glamour and elegance that Jennifer and Daniel were after. A mix of lush high and low centerpieces filled with ivory and champagne-colored garden roses, hydrangeas and hypericum berries added texture and visual intrigue to the expansive ballroom. A five-tier cake by Cake Divas was dinner’s piece de resistance with its towering square and round layers decorated to the nines with champagne fondant, lace, ribbons, vintage brooches and more. After hitting the dance floor, guests took home Jordan almonds, red cinnamon balls, tiny ivory candy balls and champagne bubbles complete with personalized bags as favors. A tip from Jennifer: “The best advice I can give is to enjoy every moment, and to be flexible because rain and stormy weather are always possibilities. And always remember the reason for the day is to celebrate your love for one another.” —Libby MacCarthy
