A Coastal-Chic Wedding at the State Room in Boston, Massachusetts

Katelyn Nadeau (30 and a VP of client services) and Jameson Crowley (34 and a medical scientist) planned a seaside soiree with a cosmopolitan feel for their midsummer wedding in Boston, Massachusetts. With its harbor views and city center location, the State Room offered the ideal backdrop for the duo’s “I dos.” “We were awestruck by the harbor views at the State Room, and it was love at first sight,” Katelyn says. “Perched atop the 60 State St. skyscraper, we could see the Bunker Hill Monument in the distance in Charlestown, which is where we live.” With the help of planner Natalie Pinney of Whim Events, the couple infused the modern space with undeniable nautical flair. A palette of ivory, navy and gold, fresh bundles of hydrangeas and sprigs of ruscus lay across cobalt blue chargers exuded coastal elegance, while details such as brushed gold flatware and mercury glass accents lent the decor a note of New England glamour. Guests were greeted with glasses of champagne as they arrived at the State Room, taking in the panoramic harbor views while waiting for the ceremony to begin. After Katelyn and Jameson exchanged vows, a four-course dinner featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients was served. “We love seafood year-round but especially in the summer,” Katelyn says. So our cocktail hour featured New England favorites such as mini lobster rolls and a raw bar with oysters from the Massachusetts coast.” Maine blueberry cake with lemon curd put a sweet finish on dinner, but the culinary delights didn’t stop there. Later on, Katelyn and Jameson treated guests to sliders and mini fried potato balls to keep the energy high for the after-party. A tip from Katelyn: “You can try and make sure every detail is just so, but when the day arrives, let the professionals take the lead. The day of your wedding is about spending time with those closest to you—laughing with your bridesmaids, seeing your partner’s smile at the end of the aisle and dancing with people who represent many stages of your life. Simply celebrate!” —Libby MacCarthy
