Vibrant colors and lush natural beauty were in abundance at Devin Cole (28 and owner of DWC Creative) and Kay Witkiewicz’s (28 and head brewer at 10 Barrel Brewing Company) wedding at Lyons Farmette in Lyons, Colorado, just north of Boulder. “It was the perfect mix of outdoors, with farm animals, mountain views and tree coverage,” Devin says. “So much charm can be found on the grounds, including a greenhouse, an Airstream trailer to get ready in, and alpacas!” Devin, a skilled artist, handcrafted most of the event’s decor—from chalkboard directional signs to watercolor escort cards—and decided on a bright palette of mustard yellow, green, blush and deep pink. “I never saw a wedding with this color scheme, so I thought it would give it some originality,” Kay says. After a personalized ceremony, Devin and Kay led their 84 guests to the nearby outdoor reception where they showcased lots of locally sourced fare. “We kept it very 'Coloradical' by serving only Colorado-made spirits and beers brewed by the groom,” Devin says. For dessert, the newlyweds arranged for Sweet Cow Ice Cream to roll in with their “Moo Mobile,” which served ice cream sandwiches and root beer floats. “The hardest part of wedding planning is the guest list and hurting feelings,” Devin says. “The best part was having guests who are truly invested in your relationship and have all the feels witnessing your ceremony.” —Carolyn Meers

Devin's engagement ring by the Shane Company is perfectly untraditional—it centers on a round diamond that is framed by a square setting.
Mandy of MJM Designs created the arrangements, bouquets and flower crowns for the big day. "My only request was not to have any traditional roses," says Devin, who chose peonies, ranunculus and ferns. "Mandy really came through on executing my vision of fun and colorful."
Devin asked each bridesmaid to wear a dress of their choosing in an assigned color: mustard yellow, turquoise, coral pink and blush. I asked the bridesmaids to look for a short-length dress in lace in their assigned color and to pick a nude or tan shoe. "I wanted them to feel comfortable in their dress choices and let them come up with a budget of what they felt comfortable spending," Devin says.
Devin's relaxed, lace Anais Anette gown honored the lace wedding gowns that her mother and grandmother had worn. Kay's separates—a navy blazer and khaki slacks—fit well with the day's relaxed mood.
"I'd describe myself as laid-back and probably the least fussy bride you've ever met," Devin says. "The flashiest thing I own is my engagement ring, so I never was attracted to a glitzy wedding style. I always pictured myself with flowers in my hair for a more boho feel."
"Place cards for guests were potted succulents in hand-painted pots and little watercolored and hand-lettered flags, which were also designed to be gifts to the guests," Devin says.
"We set up long rows of harvest tables that were crafted locally. Flowers were placed in clear vases and glassware that I collected from various thrift stores," Devin says.
Devin and Kay handcrafted corn hole boards and bags for the reception at Lyons Farmette in Lyons, Colorado.
A handwritten chalkboard sign invited guests to stay "cozy" and grab a blanket if the temperature dipped after sundown.
“Lyons Farmette was the perfect mix of outdoors, with farm animals, mountain views and tree coverage,” Devin says. “So much charm can be found on the grounds, including a greenhouse, an Airstream trailer to get ready in and alpacas.”
Guests were invited to take Polaroids of themselves throughout the reception and pin them up on a handcrafted photo wall for Devin and Kay to keep.
At the on-site tented reception, Devin and Kay's 84 guests enjoyed locally sourced fare—including beer from Kay's 10 Barrel Brewing Company and ice cream sandwiches.
