A Colorful Interfaith Wedding at Zingerman's Cornman Farms in Dexter, Michigan
Thanks to its sheer abundance of silk, velvet, tulle and hand-embroidered sequins, Irina Khurana’s (26 and a medical student) Indian lehenga reminded her of one very prominent queen. “I felt like Daenerys in Game of Thrones,” she says. Irina wore the ornate dress for her vows to longtime love Lee Beardslee Tacon III, or Trey, (27 and a software engineer). While guests looked on in a semicircle ceremony setup, the college sweethearts wed underneath a cheery yellow mandap at Zingerman’s Cornman Farms. Trey's blue jodhpuri suit subtly coordinated with Irina’s navy and gold-thread lehenga. Embellished parasols and verdant garlands lined the interor of the reception tent. A fusion band performed the traditional wedding processional of Canon in D solely using Indian instruments, only to continue the renditions well into cocktail hour. “We served farm-fresh appetizers on the lawn so guests could enjoy outdoor games and the baby goats,” Irina says.
