A Colorful, Preppy Wedding at the Cincinnati Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio
Caroline Kalnow (29 and a manager and buyer at a boutique) and Amir Shemony (35 and a director of merchandise) relied on a pastel palette and undone, organic arrangements to give the Cincinnati Country Club an airy, lush look they referred to simply as “alfresco.” “My mother has always been a gardener and flower lover, so flowers played a significant role in transforming our venue,” Caroline says of covering the refined space in seeded eucalyptus, dahlias, ranunculus and amaranthus. Prior to the start of the ceremony, Caroline and Amir chose to privately exchange emotional vows during their first look. “I cried so much that I had to get my makeup touched up before I walked down the aisle,” Caroline says. Moments later, the pair made their union official under a greenery-draped chuppah. Gold-rimmed chargers popped against dusty blue table linens. To continue with the verdant floral theme, guests tossed rose petals into the air at the ceremony’s conclusion, and sugar flowers covered the tiered, buttercream-frosted cake. “While we wanted our wedding to have a sense of formality and tradition, it was important to us that everyone felt welcome and that we set the tone for an evening full of love,” Caroline says.
