A Colorful, Retro Wedding at The Curtis in Denver, Colorado
Kristi Carr (29 and a senior imaging specialist) and Jason Carranza (30 and a senior analyst) chose Denver to tie the knot largely because they met and fell in love there. “I’ve always loved the funky, colorful, retro vibe of The Curtis hotel. I worked backward from the venue’s colors and tried to be creative,” Kristi says of the tropical celebration. The two splashed the day with Hawaiian shirts (a tribute to Jason’s late father, “The Hawaiian shirt king”), gold and magenta spray-painted pineapples (one of Kristi’s many DIYs) and bold flowers, including birds of paradise and palm leaves. The couple exchanged vows beneath an altar handmade by Kristi's dad and Jason. The couple stayed true to their vision even with their attire, with Kristi wearing a fresh flower comb and vintage turquoise earrings, while Jason kept it casual with white sneakers. At the reception, rainbow details ruled. Bright magenta petals and green palms mixed with the hotel’s orange and purple linens to drive home the Cali-eclectic, ’60s theme. When the night wrapped, guests rode pedicabs to the after-party.
