Jenny Kuo (31 and a brand manager) and Jeffrey Chi (31 and a management consultant) met during college while attending NYU, but only started dating after they bumped into each other a few years after graduation. "We dated for about four years before Jeff proposed. We were on a weekend getaway to Ocean City, Maryland when he suggested we wake up early to watch the sunrise on the beach," says Jenny. "He proposed on the beach during sunrise, it was such a beautiful setting." The pair planned their wedding at The Barns at Perona Farms, but didn't want the typical barn wedding."Jeff and I wanted a place that wasn't the typical wedding venue -- traditional, gold, carpeted, etc.," Jenny says. "We were searching for something different and found it at The Barn at Perona Farms in Andover. We needed the venue to be within driving distance of NYC since most of our friends would be driving out from there." The barn was uplit with blue lighting, which gave the traditional rustic space new life. The color palette became gray, pale green, peach and ivory. "This venue was unlike any other venue we'd ever been to," says Jenny.

Jeff bought a Tiffany & Co Tiffany setting ring for the proposal.rn
"My save-the-date cards were hand-made by myself and the bridesmaids (I did a play on words with a Jenny & Jeff are tying the knot...when the card was opened, a string that was pre-strung would tighten into a knot). My coworker has her own letterpress business so she custom designed our invitations and printed (Trace Paper Art+Design)," says Jenny.

"It ended up being incredibly difficult to find ties for the groomsmen as J Crew actually didn't sell ties that matched back to the dresses," says Jenny. "I wanted a printed tie and ended up finding a checkered tie that matched the dresses from Bows 'n Ties that wasn't too matchy-matchy."
"I based the color theme of the wedding on the bridesmaid dress color I chose (Dusty Shale) and then worked from there," says Jenny. "Ivory and gray were natural choices from my perspective and our florist did the rest. I only knew I wanted blue hydrangeas in the mix and she added pale green, peach and ivory flowers to compliment the dresses."
"I wanted a wedding gown that focused more on fabric manipulation (rouching, folds, draping, etc) rather than elaborate fabrications. I found a Martina Liana strapless silk dupioni dress with a sweetheart neckline and draping detail," says Jenny.

"The space had a simplicity to it that we liked and the upstairs reception space was a beautiful rustic space with uplighting," says Jenny. "The dinner tables were slabs of lacquered hardwood. It was unlike any wedding venue we've been to. We lucked out that a date in August had opened up (we went looking in November) and booked it the week we saw the space."
Home-Made Wedding Favors
"A big draw of The Barn at Perona Farms was that we could have a Pig Roast during cocktail hour. Sold!" says Jenny. "The day boat scallops/diver scallops during cocktail hour were a hit and were gone before the hour was up. Reception is family style at The Barn, I maybe had twp bites of the food between running around talking to everyone."
"We grew up playing video games and watching cartoons, and today we still enjoy video games," says Jenny. "For the name cards, I opted to go with a poster instead - each table was assigned a number and character from our childhood with names listed under each one."
Four-Tier Classic Wedding Cake
"Jeff is a Marvel fan so I went to Etsy to get a cute custom-made cake topper of Deadpool (a Marvel character) standing with a bride," says Jenny.
