A Contemporary, Rustic Wedding at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Tarrytown, New York
Vincy and Fong’s midsummer wedding was a rustic, elegant affair laced with plenty of personalized and unexpected touches.
Fong popped the question at Blue Hill at Stone Barns under a sky full of fireflies just as the sun was setting. The couple fell head over heels for the locale—so when it came to plan their summer nuptials, they knew they wanted to share the serene spot with their family and friends. “Not a lot of people get to have their wedding a few hundred feet from where they got engaged, so it made it extra special for us to be able to share our memories with our guests while creating new ones,” Vincy says.
All of the day’s details paid tribute to the rustic setting, from the potted seating assignments to the farm-to-table menu and floral arrangements, filled with fresh fruits and vegetables. “Being a really practical man, Fong is reluctant to buy me flowers. We always joked about buying veggies and tying a ribbon around it,” Vincy says. “For our engagement, Fong contacted a florist and had her build an arrangement with things she grew in her garden. It was all edible, and we made a salad out of it the next night!” The pair carried over that idea for the wedding day decorations. Vincy’s bouquet was a vibrant green bundle of artichokes, kale, broccolini and chili peppers, and fresh raspberries were woven throughout the centerpieces.
Other fun-filled elements included animal place card holders and seating charts planted alongside chili peppers and herbs in a vintage apple crate. Vincy even designed all of the stationery herself—a modern-meets-rustic invitation suite with gold geometric detailing.
