A Country Barn Wedding at Meanda Grove in Riverside, California

Vanessa Trujillo (28 and a produce clerk) and Jonathan Sunshine (28 and a city worker) met while they were working together at a local grocery store.

Vanessa Trujillo (28 and a produce clerk) and Jonathan Sunshine (28 and a city worker) met while they were working together at a local grocery store. They got to know each other through Jonathan being at the register and Vanessa bagging his groceries, along with the occasional smile down the aisle. The two finally hit it off at a New Year’s Eve party and began to date for what would be the next seven years. After a late night workout at the gym, the couple got back to Vanessa’s home where Jonathan took out a small gift bag out of his car. Vanessa was under the impression it was a birthday gift, until she opened a ring box to reveal a half eaten Ring Pop. “As I looked at him, he had been down on his knee holding the real thing in his hand, and that was where our new chapter had begun,” says Vanessa. The couple had their yellow and white wedding at Meanda Grove in Riverside, California, a five-acre private residence with a red barn that complemented the rustic, country theme. The ceremony took place outside, where Vanessa walked down the aisle in her ivory wedding gown designed by Mori Lee and held a rose and magnolia bouquet, accented with eucalyptus and baby’s breath. The reception was held in the red barn, where they served a dinner catered by Richard Jones BBQ and a large dessert bar with oatmeal cream pies and Bundt cakes. During the night, there was a slideshow shown of the couple that revealed how they love story unfolded.

Vanessa wore a strapless ivory wedding gown with a full skirt designed by Mori Lee.
“The night before the wedding, my bridesmaids, family and I put together floral center pieces, boutonnières/bouquets and décor,” says Vanessa. “Each of my bridesmaids personally made there own unique bouquets. My bouquet consisted of yellow and white roses, eucalyptus, baby’s breath and one large magnolia flower.”
“My maid of honor and matron of honor wore canary yellow dresses while my bridesmaids wore sunbeam yellow, and both were purchased from David’s Bridal,” says Vanessa.

The couple stood in the middle of their wedding party in front of the red barn reception venue. The bridesmaids wore bright yellow dresses while the men wore tan vests and pants.
“The location was on a five-acre private residence known as Meanda Grove,” says Vanessa. “The driveway was pebbled, which swirled its way through the property that ended at a big red barn. I chose this location because of the natural beauty it had. It was rustic, chic, and country, everything I had been searching for!”

The reception took place inside a big, red barn at Meanda Grove in Riverside, California. The entrance to the reception was open, with white linens elegantly draping down that revealed the dining tables and chandeliers.
The couple made the table centerpieces, which were painted mason jars filled with yellow and ivory flowers accented with leaves. “Our color palette was hues of yellow, white and ivory, and the wedding style was rustic, chic and country,” says Vanessa.
Mason jars were painted and filled with ivory and yellow flowers, such as roses, peonies and baby's breath. The flower arrangements were on a slab of wood and served as table centerpieces. “I’m definitely a DIY kind of girl, and I had a whole year to plan my wedding, with the help of others of course,” says Vanessa. “I did a lot of thrift and antique shopping for my decor. Everything was personally made by my family and I.” rn
