A Country-Chic DIY Wedding at The Lady and Sons in Savannah, Georgia
Working on an ambulance, JT Schandolph (24 and a paramedic) would see Julie York (29 and a photographer) working in the emergency room whenever he would drop patients off. After turning him down several times, Julie agreed to get drinks with JT to celebrate a friend’s promotion and the pair quickly started dating. JT surprised Julie by proposing after cooking her favorite meal. "It wasn't some over the top proposal, but he got down on one knee in my kitchen and asked me to be his wife!" says Julie. The couple spent the next 16 months planning their southern-chic ceremony at the Wormsloe Historic Site followed by relaxed celebration at Paula Deen's The Lady and Sons in Savannah, Georgia. "We chose to have our wedding at Wormsloe Plantation under gorgeous old oak trees draped in Spanish moss," says Ansley. The bride handmade all of the burlap accents used throughout her rustic affair from her hairpiece to the table runners for a country feel. A khaki, yellow and white color palette complemented laid-back celebration with a "country rustic" theme. After a southern buffet and an evening of dancing, Julie and JT ended the night with a pedicab exit.
