A Country Wedding at Alexander's in Marysville, Michigan
Heather Kurka (28 and a retail manager) and Trevor Semrow (29 and a retail manager) both love country music and anything rustic, but still wanted formal elements for their wedding. They ran with a country chic theme, with plenty of DIY and local Michigan elements. "We love to support our home state as much as we can," Heather says. Heather wore a ballgown with a sweetheart neckline paired with brown cowboy boots, which matched Trevor in his Vera Wang suit, white cowboy hat and boots. The bridesmaids wore chiffon navy dresses, with the groomsmen in Vera Wang suits with navy vests and cowboy hats. Heather carried a unique brooch bouquet, made by her sister and herself, and it included pins that belonged to family members to represent them. "My grandfather worked for Consumer's Energy so I had one of his anniversary pins, and I included a mustang brooch that represented Trevor's grandfather, who worked at Ford Motor Company," Heather explains of the ode to both family and their beloved state. After a traditional ceremony at St. Mary's Catholic Church, the reception was held at Alexander's, where flowers were displayed in three different centerpiece arrangements: on top of candelabras, in vases next to candles and in mason jars with floating candles on top.
