A Cozy Winter Wedding at Stowe Mountain Lodge in Vermont
Having always dreamt of a winter wedding, Hayley Kuhn (30 and a physician) knew fresh snow was absolutely necessary to bring her alpine vision to life. “The only place I could guarantee snow was at a ski resort, where they could make it snow if necessary,” she says. Hayley and Aleksandar (Aleks) Durovic (34 and a machine technician) landed on Stowe Mountain Lodge. Icy shades of blue and champagne paired with pops of maroon played up the lodge’s ballroom. Seventy guests dined on local staples like Vermont cheddar-ale soup and chocolate fondue. “We wanted an elegant yet natural design with lots of candlelight to showcase just how beautiful winter really is,” Hayley says. Onlookers stopped to clap and cheer as Hayley made her way through the hotel lobby to meet Aleks for their first look. “It was an unexpected moment I’ll never forget,” she says. Hayley carried baby blue eucalyptus, silver brunia and calla lilies down a candle-lined aisle. Hayley gifted bridesmaids handmade mittens stiched with personalized buttons. Guests gathered around an outdoor fire pit to roast s’mores during the reception. Toward the end of the evening, the couple’s DJ played the traditional Serbian Kolo in honor of Aleks’s European upbringing. “Only our Serbian guests actually knew the dance, but everyone else had fun laughing together as they tried to figure it out,” Hayley says.
