A Destination Wedding at Hotel Riu Guanacaste in Costa Rica

When your guests have to travel for your wedding anyway, why not get married in a tropical paradise? Canadian couple Liane Boisvert (29 and a nurse) and Eric Boisvert (29 and a service technician) tied the knot on a beautiful dark sand beach at Hotel Riu Guanacaste in Costa Rica, where guests could relax on tranquil beaches or venture into the rainforest for an adventure. “We chose Costa Rica since it's rich in biodiversity and offers the best of both worlds,” the bride says. The vivid colors of the Costa Rican dendrobium orchids inspired the purple and white color palette for the wedding; the vibrant colors popped against the tropical backdrop. “Romantic and elegant was the look that we chose for our day,” Liane says. She wore a form-fitting beaded lace wedding dress with a low back that was perfect for her wedding on the beach. She and Eric exchanged their vows (in French!) on the sand underneath an arch draped in white with dendrobium orchid decor. Later, guests made their way to the private open-air terrace of the resort, where each place setting was assigned with a handmade purple orchid. But the celebrations weren’t just limited to the wedding day: Two days before the wedding, the couple organized a sunset boat cruise for all their guests who traveled to share in their special day. Liane offers tips for the taking for future couples planning their wedding: “Stay true to yourselves and your vision. It is easy to get caught up in all the unnecessary wedding details and opinions of others. Enjoy planning your wedding, and enjoy your wedding day.”
