A Destination Wedding at La Concha Resort in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Joi Lynne Ortiz and Shelby A. Taylor Jr. were introduced by mutual friends who suggested that they meet. Their personalities and sense of humor were a great fit, but since Joi was living in New Jersey and Shelby was in Illinois, the two never imagined themselves married. Their first introduction was over the phone, but the pair met a month later at a friend’s housewarming party and sealed the deal. Throughout their relationship, the couple would joke that if Shelby proposed, he would pop the question with the couple’s usual tradition of waffles in bed. Shelby surprised Joi with a waffle maker, saying he would be making a lot of waffles in the future, then presented her with a bag of ring pops, and finally, one final ring that he offered on one knee. Joi always knew that she wanted to get married in Puerto Rico because she wanted wedding pictures overlooking the ocean at the castles in Old San Juan. The couple wanted a small, intimate wedding where their guests could enjoy themselves on the island, so they selected La Concha Resort for its many amenities to turn their wedding into a vacation. The Caribbean feel was present throughout their destination wedding as guests enjoyed stunning ocean views and spending quality time together, which was all captured by ZuaniaGrafia
