Erica Sutherlin, 24, a visual manager, and Johnathan Sutherlin, 27, an operations manager, exchanged vows in an elegant fall wedding in Indiana. The couple met at a mutual friend’s birthday party and dated for a year before becoming engaged. They chose the Ritz Charles as the venue for their big day because it had both a ceremony and reception space. “The glass garden pavilion we used for the reception gave the feeling of being outside, without the risk of inclement weather, which was perfect since it poured during dinner!” the bride says. “It was set near a large open field and a woods, which you could see the trees changing color.” Erica and Johnathan used the natural autumn landscape as inspiration for their color palette and décor, which included bright floral arrangements and white pumpkins. Rather than focusing on a specific style, they focused on creating an elegant but comfortable atmosphere for everyone. Following the chapel ceremony, the wedding’s 150 guests were treated to a cocktail hour and sit-down dinner of apple cider-glazed pork and a chicken and steak combo at the reception. A four-tier white wedding cake for dessert, dancing and a sparkler send-off finished off the night.

The bride designed her green heels through the Etsy shop Design Your Pedestal. For the reception, she switched into TOMS wedges.
Princess Cut Diamond Ring
Erica's bridesmaids all picked out their own dress silhouette and nude heels. Like the bride, they also switched to classic TOMS for the reception.

The groomsmen wore black suits with black ties. "It was an easy option since most of them already had suits," the bride says. "Johnathan wore the same, but added a black vest and a green pocket square."
Erica designed the programs, CD sleeves and table numbers herself using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. "I wanted to guests to feel like they knew the bridal party, so I designed and created the wedding program that listed who was all in the wedding party and a fun fact about them," she says.

The bride used an Etsy shop, mapleshoppers, to design the name cards and then glued them to different color paper that corresponded with each guest's meal choice.
Autumn-Inspired Floral Centerpice
"Part of the table centerpieces were pictures of Johnathan and I growing up and our parents and grandparents on their wedding day," the bride says. "It was just a little something fun I wanted to add."
The bride and groom used white pumpkins instead of orange for the reception decor because it felt more appropriate for a wedding.

Johnathan and Erica created mixed CDs for guests to take home. "All of the songs on it played at some point during the ceremony or reception," Erica says. "It was really fun compiling the songs trying to put something on it for everyone."
