A DIY Vintage-Inspired Wedding at Hotel Atotonilco El Viejo in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico
Hotel Atotonilco El Viejo in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, is an amazing venue—with beautiful open spaces, surrounded by greenery and trees and plenty of amenities—to host an intimate, relaxing wedding weekend. That’s why it was perfect for Giovanna Vazquez (23 and a fashion designer) and Jose Luis Alvarez (38 and a clothing factory owner) to celebrate their marriage. Their day began with a heartfelt ceremony under a tree, followed by ambient music and flavorful fruit cocktails and mojitos. A special touch to their cocktail hour were traditional San Miguel ice cream flavors: tequila, vanilla, chocolate and cherry. Giovanna, an aspiring wedding planner, created a laid-back vibe at the reception with DIY pastel flower arrangements and vintage decor, including lanterns, mason jar mugs and Volkswagen bus escort cards. One detail not to miss: the wedding cake. It was a naked cake scattered with fresh berries and white roses, which was perfect for the warm climate.
