Despite graduating in the same high school class, newlyweds Kira Dean (30 and a registered dietician) and Christian Greenwood (31 and a mechanical designer) failed to recognize the spark they shared until well after they both parted ways for college. "Two years after school, I saw him at a movie theater," Kira explains. "We said hello and I had to work up the courage to ask a mutual friend for his number. Thirteen years later, we're married!" The sweet, surprise proposal came on Kira's 30th birthday while the two were exploring Cave Point County Park in Door County. "It was just the two of us on the trip, so we had a tripod set up to take photos," Kira says. "After we took one photo, he suggested that we take another. He was crouched down while I was waiting for the timer to go off and before I knew it, he had asked me to marry him!" While planning their June wedding in Door County, the couple settled on The Landmark Resort in Egg Harbor for both the ceremony and reception space. "We really loved the location for its views and amenities," the bride explains. "We knew it'd be a great place to have our guests stay for those looking for a little getaway." Dressed in a white, strapless gown from Amelishan Bridal Shop, Kira and Christian (in BLACK by Vera Wang) exchanged vows in an outdoor ceremony the only way they knew how...with a pinky promise. "Chris suggest that we include our go-to pinky swear after our vows since it's something we've always done when we both mean business," Kira laughs. Afterwards, the newlyweds and their 113 guests celebrated with a rustic reception in the resort's banquet hall. "We opted out of a wedding cake since we prefer cheesecake and pie!", Kira explains. "We even offered pizza for a late night snack and had a photo booth to entertain guests throughout the night."
