A DIY Winter Wedding at Garten Verein in Galveston, Texas

Erynn Weston (25 and a physical therapist) and Taylor Weston (26 and a speech-language pathologist) share a love for Galveston, Texas, the city where they met and live, so they celebrated their wedding at places with significance around the city. Kempner Park, where they hosted their ceremony, is a place they used to walk to when Taylor lived nearby. “It’s really cool to get married somewhere that you can go back to,” Erynn says. Their ceremony centered on their Christian faith, and for their first act as a married couple, Erynn and Taylor took Communion together. Later, they continued the celebration in Kempner Park with a reception at Garten Verein, where they danced the night away in the 1880 dance hall. Erynn and Taylor’s focus of the day was getting married, but they included lots of DIY details to make the day personal from start to finish. Since their wedding took place in the winter, they went with a navy and natural brown palette with lots of wooden accents, including the wedding arch, table numbers and the groomsmen’s bow ties. Pinecones made an appearance throughout the day, from Erynn’s bouquet to the escort cards, and even on top of the wedding cake. The most memorable detail of the day was their first dance: Taylor wrote and recorded a song called “Promise” just for them. “I still love listening to it,” Erynn says. Archetype Photography was on hand to capture all the sweet moments from the day, below.
