A Fall Tea Party-Themed Wedding at Floyd Lamb State Park in Las Vegas, Nevada

Alana Shephard (22 and a design engineer) and Samyuell Mongkhonsavath’s (23 and a soldier in the US Army) late fall wedding felt straight out of the pages of a storybook with its color palette of playful pastel hues and Mad Hatter tea party theme.

The pair took their whimsical soiree to Floyd Lamb State Park, whose vibrant red, orange and yellow foliage provided a striking backdrop for the day. The festivities kicked off with an intimate ceremony overlooking a quaint, calm lake, with Alana and Samyuell exchanging vows under a quirky teacup chandelier and a canopy of airy white fabric. An unexpected touch that gave the event a unique flavor was the couple’s unity ceremony. Instead of planting a tree or mixing together colorful sand, the pair poured two different paint colors down a canvas to create a piece of one-of-a-kind art rich in symbolism and sentiment.

After the “I dos,” the newlyweds and their guests followed a series of handcrafted signs to reach the tent where the rest of the celebration would unfold. The second guests stepped into the airy reception tent they were transported to Wonderland. Each table was topped with a unique collection of antiques, ranging from colorful teacups to silver trays, blown glass accents and gold frames. Pale pink roses, stock flowers, baby’s breath and berries brought a note of freshness to the decor, while playing up the garden tea party theme. The menu followed suit, with cucumber cups, smoked salmon tartines, roast beef canapes and even an assortment of teas featuring during cocktail hour.

And like any good tea party, there was no shortage of sweet treats. After dinner guests indulged in cupcakes, madeleines, macarons, cake pops, cookies, eclairs and much more. The dance floor saw more than its fair share of action, but there were plenty of other activities to keep everyone busy too. When guests needed to rest their dancing feet, they headed to the lawn for a round of jumbo Jenga, connect four, dominoes or croquet.
