A Farm-Inspired Wedding at Pachamama Farm & Wellness in Longmont, Colorado
Annie Barr (27 and works in marketing) and Austin Lamer (40 and works in horticulture) met at a Farmer’s Market. Annie was finishing college and Austin was a farmer at a local, organic farm in Boulder County. Annie had a Community Supported Agriculture share at Austin’s farm. Five years later, Austin took Annie to where they met and proposed. Considering their romantic farm love story, they decided to have a farm wedding. They chose Pachamama Farm & Wellness in Longmont, Colorado, which is a working farm complete with chickens, pigs, vegetable fields and alfalfa. They exchanged vows in the middle of a large alfalfa field with the Rocky Mountains in the background. Since Annie and Austin are both very passionate about farming, they wanted to showcase the farm’s natural beauty as well as local agriculture. All of the flowers were seasonal and purchased from the local Farmer’s Market. The centerpieces were from a local nursery and sat in wooden wine boxes from the local winery. They gave guests packets of locally grown vegetable seeds for favors. They even commissioned Basta, a farm-to-table restaurant in Boulder to make fresh pizzas in a portable wood fired stone oven. They served the pizzas along with a vegetable salad made from ingredients grown at Pachamama Farm. “We believe in a transparent relationship with food; it was a treat to have our guests receive food that came directly from the land on which we celebrated, as well as witness the art and effort of it being prepared for them,” Annie says. “We met and fell in love because of a common passion for local agriculture. We had a chance to bring this experience alive through our wedding.”
