A Flower-Filled Wedding at the Julia Ideson Building in Houston, Texas
Attorneys Jessica Schaffner (31) and Scott Armstrong (30) first met in law school, where their relationship blossomed over study sessions and stacks of books. Their studious start set the tone for their library nuptials, where a greenery-draped fabric backdrop framed the couple as they exchanged vows in the venue’s auditorium. “Marrying in a library felt right for us,” Jessica says. “We love that it’s a part of Houston’s history and will be there many years after our wedding day.”
At the reception, gold vessel centerpieces housed peach-hued blooms and a card catalog seating chart cleverly reflected the venue location. A neutral palette punched up with clusters of greenery and pops of magenta added to the decor. “We loved the architecture of the space and wanted to complement it, not overwhelm it,” Jessica says. Guests sat down to a dinner of osso buco with bone marrow and Chilean sea bass. “One of our favorite things to do together is eat interesting food,” Jessica says. Rather than cut into a traditional tiered cake, Buttercup Bakery arranged an indulgent spread of olive oil shortbread cookies and blueberry panna cotta.
