A Beach-Inspired Wedding at the Stateroom in Long Beach, New Jersey

Since Long Beach, New Jersey, is their favorite spot, it was no surprise that Kristie Banks (26 and a special education teacher) and Kyle Raventos (26 and in finance) chose the Stateroom there for their wedding location. “We adore the small-town vibe and laid-back beach lifestyle, so it made sense to celebrate the happiest day of our lives with everyone we love in the place we love the most,” Kristie says. The beach even inspired their theme. Guests took their seats at an outdoor ceremony in the sand with a gorgeous view of the water. Once inside and sand-free, starfish on an illuminated platform directed them to their tables. Some centerpieces even had a few seaworthy lanterns. But no beach day is complete without a sandcastle, so their wedding cake from Carlo’s Bakery was inspired by just that. It even had turrets and sugar seashells. Check out this detail and more, below, in the beautiful photos shot by POPography.

The Jersey Shore also influenced their invitation suite. Kristie and Kyle picked out neutral stationery that fit the beach vibe with a wood-inspired background, a few blush seashells and blue calligraphy.
“I wanted to make sure all my bridesmaids were comfortable and felt amazing in their dresses, which is why we went with different styles in the same color,” Kristie says. Each woman walked onto the boardwalk's mini golf green in a long salmon dress with a ruffle along the front and her choice of neckline. To change things up a bit more, they also chose different hairstyles. The groomsmen kept things a bit simpler with matching neutral suits and striped ties.
Their wedding arbor was this cool mix of industrial meets classic, with silver bamboo posts draped in white fabric and accented with lush arrangements from Lilly in the Valley. Each accent brought out their wedding colors with peach and pink roses, white hydrangeas, red hypericum berries and blush delphiniums wrapped in a light pink ribbon.
“Our florist did a fantastic job designing our bouquets, ceremony flowers and centerpieces,” Kristie says. Their aisle decor alone was filled with these lush arrangements of white hydrangeas, peach and pink roses and red hypericum berries in clear glass jars. A light pink ribbon was wrapped around the neck of each to match Kristie’s bouquet.
Kyle proposed to Kylie on his college campus with a classic princess-cut diamond ring surrounded by two round diamonds and diamond baguettes. For their ceremony, she picked out a matching wedding ring surrounded by round diamond baguettes. Kyle went with something just as timeless and chose an all-silver band.
Kristie and Kyle’s love for the beach definitely came out in their wedding cake design. Made at Carlo’s Bakery, their three-tier confection resembled a sandcastle with ornate sugar starfish, a stone wall design and three turrets. A blue design resembling a moat even accented its base.
Kristie and Kyle knew that leaving the Jersey Shore without trying a piece of saltwater taffy or fudge isn't an option. So they made sure each guest took home a piece from Country Kettle Fudge as their wedding favor.
Neither the Jersey Shore’s wind nor a ride around the boardwalk carousel could harm Kristie’s gorgeous look. Chic Blowout Bar styled her with tons of refined, beachy curls that matched their setting. Her natural makeup only enhanced the look for their wedding at the Stateroom in Long Beach, New Jersey.
