A Glam Bohemian Winter Wedding at The Guild in Kansas City, Kansas
Megan Nelson (32 and a health coach) and Trey Morgan (32 and a motion designer and artist) exchanged vows in a Catholic ceremony that was followed by a whimsical, Kansas City–themed night marked by black, white, gold and burgundy accents. With quintessential Kansas City barbecue, Boulevard beer and custom-designed pop-up invites with illustrations of their favorite sites around the city, Megan and Trey paid homage to their hometown. “We wanted our guests to enjoy the city as much as we do,” Megan says. Each and every detail was carefully planned to reflect the winter season and the couple’s relationship. The classic color palette channeled New Year’s Eve glamour, while dark red taper candles and floral arrangements added drama to the tablescapes. Nodding to their engagement at the local Alamo Drafthouse movie theatre, the couple served popcorn and movie candy as a late-night treat. During the party, they surprised guests with a balloon artist who fashioned bunny ears for Megan and a crown for Trey. “Seeing adults getting excited over balloons was one of the most amusing things I have ever seen,” Megan says. The couple’s wedding day duds stood out among the other decorative details. The bridesmaids walked down the aisle in sequined dresses inspired by Megan’s grandmother’s ring, and Trey passed on the traditional tux in favor of a burgundy velvet suit—the perfect complement to Megan’s velvet bouquet wrap.
