A Glam, Romantic Summer Wedding at Oxon Hill Manor in Oxon Hill, Maryland
Elyse Tou (30 and a certified public accountant) and Bryan Chan (33 and an IT consultant) honored their Chinese culture with pops of red and a traditional 10-course dinner. They decorated the garden ceremony venue with shades of coral, sage and champagne.
After saying “I do” in an ivory lace gown, Elyse changed into a red-lace, mermaid-style dress with a Chinese collar that she had custom made in China. “Red is the lucky color in our culture,” she says. Bryan switched from his gray suit to a more formal black tux with a silver bow tie to celebrate with their guests.
A dessert hour followed the ceremony, where guests noshed on an array of mini pastries including macarons.
To kick off the reception, Elyse and Bryan performed a traditional tea ceremony before digging into a feast of two starters, soup, six entrées and dessert. And to end the night, guests took home chopsticks engraved with the couple’s name and wedding date. “They came in a pair—it was perfect,” she says.
The three-tier cake was decorated with rosettes, diagonal designs, blooms and a custom “Mr. & Mrs. Chan” topper.
