A Glam Rooftop Wedding at The Faulkner in Jackson, Mississippi, with Luxe Velvet Details

Every part of Joslyn and Ronnie's wedding at The Faulkner in Jackson, Mississippi, was filled with meaning from the wedding date, November 7th, to the blue color palette. "The day was absolutely magical, not just because it was our wedding day, but because we chose this day to honor Ronnie's mother (a significant piece of his heart) who passed away from colon cancer," explains Joslyn. "November 7th is her birthday and we definitely felt her presence throughout the entire day. The inspiration to use midnight blue came from the blue colorectal cancer ribbon that is worn to honor and recognize loved ones who have suffered from this type of cancer."  To complement their blue-and-silver color palette, Joslyn and Ronnie leaned into a "modernized classic theme" filled with white florals, crystal candelabras and epic fashion (the groom and wedding party all wore blue outfits). "There were specific aspects of the wedding that we absolutely wanted such as the 360 photo booth, rooftop city-view vibes with a greenery wall (instead of the traditional wedding arbor), a cocktail hour reception with couches and hightop tables, and our favorite photographer and DJ. Once we solidified the MUST-HAVES, our wedding coordinator and designer (who are completely knowledgeable of this industry) instantly took the reins and made our dreams come true," says Joslyn.

Decor and fashion were two areas the couple gave special consideration to when bringing together their "modernized classic" wedding. "Since we were passionate about fulfilling the theme of modernizing the classic look, we felt it was important to use white florals, lots of greenery, white linens and crystals throughout," says Joslyn. "I knew I wanted a refined look with white and green floral arrangements, acrylic pieces and a green wall to accent the city views. Because we were on the rooftop, overlooking the city, we didn't need much decor as the city provided most of that for us." As for fashion, the decisions were easily made once the couple settled on a date and venue. "As soon as we decided on a late fall (evening) wedding, we knew the exact look to go for. The bridal party wore midnight blue, velvet, floor-length gowns. The groomsmen wore black, single-button velvet tuxedos. The classic tuxedo was custom-made to tailor each groomsman. The tuxedos definitely complemented the midnight blue dresses. What a beautiful sight!"

Beyond planning a beautiful wedding, it was important to Joslyn and Ronnie that the day feel meaningful and personalized. One way that the couple filled their wedding with heartfelt meaning was through honoring loved ones not present during their ceremony. "During our ceremony, we felt it was important to dedicate a moment to our close family members who are no longer with us. Not only did we use this moment to honor them, but it was also a moment to breathe and look out at our closest family and friends who were able to attend," says Joslyn. Joslyn and Ronnie also imbued personalization into their parent dances during the reception. "The bride and her father had a special routine they created and NO ONE expected this. The bride and her father are pretty quiet and reserved, so most people expected a typical first dance. The guests did not expect a full-out choreographed routine...it was definitely a moment. The groom chose to surprise his godmother, aunt and mother-in-law each with a dance to their favorite songs. None of them were expecting this and were all-in once the Dj announced their names. We still daydream about this moment," recalls Joslyn. Then, to cap off the evening in style, the duo made their getaway in a Rolls Royce.

Looking back on their glam wedding day at The Faulkner in Jackson, Mississippi, Joslyn and Ronnie encourage all current to-be-weds to "plan together! It was definitely enjoyable for us because we planned together. We were truly invested in this so we made sure to devote specific days of the week to just wedding planning. Grab your favorite bottle of wine with your partner and plan together. Enjoy these moments (the wedding day will be here before you know it!)."
