A Glam Serbian Wedding at Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh/Southpointe in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania

Ashley Jacobson and (30 and a director of operations) and Joseph "Jake" Bratek (30 and a buyer) met for the first time at a work event. Two years after that fateful night, Jake proposed during a trip to New York City. "He planned the whole trip around proposing to me and I had no idea," Ashley says. A few months later, Ashley found her dream dress—a strapless Allure Couture gold lace applique gown—and her entire vision for their wedding changed. Their palette went from eggplant and magenta to gold and ivory. "My dress inspired my entire wedding vision," Ashley says. "Crazy, but true. All I could envision was dripping the reception in gold to make it a romantic, classic event." Jake is Serbian Orthodox and Ashley is Russian Orthodox, which share many similar traditions that they incorporated throughout the day. "We tried to incorporate a good mix of his family's traditions and mine," Ashley says. The festivities began with a "skup" at Jake's parents' house, where he bartered with Ashley's father for her hand, and the reception included a traditional dollar dance to pay homage to Ashley's heritage. "I think the blending of traditions really represented us best. We love to have fun, keep traditions and maintain the value of family," Ashley says. —Meghan Overdeep
