A Glam, Vintage-Inspired Wedding at Bella Collina in Montverde, Florida
DeAnna Dorsey (26 and an associate manager) and Brandon McIntosh (29 and a high school social studies teacher) planned a glam, vintage-inspired fete for their spring nuptials in Montverde, Florida. With a luxe palette of champagne, blush, gold, ivory, rose gold and sage green, the pair highlighted Bella Collina’s innate elegance. The day started with an intimate ceremony on the lawn. Instead of a traditional aisle, DeAnna and Brandon opted for a circular layout, which allowed them to exchange their own vows surrounded by the love and support of their families and friends. “We promised each other we wouldn’t prepare them ahead of time,” DeAnna says. “We wanted to do it straight from the heart, which is why I had such a hard time getting through it at first without crying!” Rose petals were sprinkled throughout the space, lending a touch of romance to the ceremony decor, while a legacy table at the entrance to the outdoor space paid tribute to the couple’s parents and grandparents, who have been married for 30-plus and 57 years, respectively.
Cocktail hour was on Bella Collina’s veranda, with its calm reflecting pool and undeniable Tuscan flair. Guests imbibed strawberry mojitos and nibbled on inspired eats like grilled peach crostini, tandoori chicken skewers and blackened prawns. “They loved relaxing outside and taking photos with the vintage furniture vignettes,” DeAnna says. The guest book display was a particular hit: A vintage vanity adorned with a lush garland and white blooms invited guests to leave a little love for the newlyweds, then select a special thank-you gift from one of its many drawers. “We had an assortment of balsamic vinegars and olive oils for them to choose from, which they could then place in one of our fatigue gift bags that we hand-painted with the words ‘Love the Macs’ in gold,” DeAnna says. The evening was full of surprises, including a full-on dessert experience. DeAnna and Brandon transformed the wine cellar into a dessert lounge, filling the room with cool blue uplighting and Miami house music. Guests had their pick of sweet treats, with towering cakes, parfaits, cookies, macarons, chocolate-covered strawberries and more. After the evening’s last dance, the newlyweds and their guests headed outdoors for a bonfire and s’mores. A tip from DeAnna and Brandon: “As a couple, we love to travel and experience new things, and we tried to incorporate that into our wedding in a variety of ways. Ours was a destination wedding for almost all our guests, so we planned an entire weekend for them. Sunday was our big day, and our guests had numerous elements to keep them entertained, because each portion of our wedding was in a different location. This was the biggest reason we chose Bella Collina. Not only was it a breathtaking venue, but there were so many spaces available exclusively to us.” —Libby MacCarthy
